Hospital Bag Checklist

​

Your baby may decide to come earlier than you thought and at any time of day. Be ready to go the hospital at a moment’s notice. Have everything baby, mom, and you will need for the hospital packed and ready to go about one month before the due date.

​

Baby will need…

  • Home-going outfit.

  • Baby blanket.

  • Newborn diapers and wipes.

  • Pacifier, just in case.

  • Way to get home with pre-installed infant car seat.

 

​Mom will need…

  • Maternity underpants, pads, or adult diapers, as preferred.

  • Nursing bras and/or regular bras; breast pads if plan to nurse.

  • Slippers with grip soles or flip flops if mom wants to walk around the hospital during labor.

  • Comfortable shoes.

  • Pajamas, nightgown, or bathrobe that is comfortable and okay to get dirty

  • Insurance card; any needed hospital documents.

  • Hair bands, clips, headband.

Both data and mom will need…

  • Photo ID (State ID, driver’s license, or passport).

  • Copy of your birth plan, if you have one.

  • Glasses and/or contacts and saline solution, if applicable.

  • Cell phone, extra long charger, charging pack.

  • Camera or video camera with batteries, charger, and memory card

  • Stuff for bathroom – toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, contact lens (if applicable), wash cloth, towel, lotion, lip balm, nipple cream.

  • 2 or 3 changes of clothes.

  • Snacks and drinks.

  • Money to park and change for vending machines.

  • An extra bag, just in case.
