The 5 S's to Calm Your Baby

​

A good way to calm your newborn baby and help them sleep is to re-create the noises, movement, and snug setting of the womb. Use the “5 S’s” approach to do this:

​

  1. Swaddle your baby.

  2. Hold your baby in a Side or stomach position.

  3. Use Shush to calm your fussy baby.

  4. Very gently Swing your baby when holding them or in a rocking chair.

  5. Let your baby Suck on something (like a finger or pacifier).
